What does an assessor do?

Assessors are employed by skills development providers to assess unit standards and qualifications that are registered on the NQF. Skills development companies can consist of organisations that provide training to their workers in the workplace. Assessors and moderators can either work as employees of skills advancement service providers, or they can work as independent specialists.

In the context of education, an assessor determines whether a student is proficient in relation to the requirements or outcomes for a specific unit standard or certification on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).
