What does an assessor do?

Assessors are employed by skills advancement providers to assess unit standards and certifications that are registered on the NQF. Skills advancement companies can include organisations that supply training to their employees in the work environment. Assessors and moderators can either work as employees of skills advancement providers, or they can work as independent contractors.

In the context of education, an assessor identifies whether a learner is skilled in relation to the criteria or results for a particular unit standard or qualification on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).
